MATCH ANGLING

The E&DAA has a good match following with regular competitions for club members and open competitioAssociation President Sid Battenns for the visiting match angler. Matches are held throughout the year, with fortnightly and Sunday competitions, in addition, during the summer month’s there’s a Wednesday evening series and an active inter-club match series and a mini winter league (Devon 4’s).

The Association also enters a team in the prestigious, National and regional angling championships, in the past, E&DAA members have been extremely successful in these high profile angling competitions and on two separate occasions the Exeter club has produced winners of the Divisional National Championships.


All Club match venues & start times are to be found in the Association information sheet, some are however, occasionally moved due to water or weather conditions prevailing at the time; it is therefore, advisable to check the local press or enquire at your local tackle shop for any changes.

Regular match waters are: various sections of the Exeter Canal, River Exe - Exeter and the productive Kia Ora Fishery – Cullompton, whereas Winter League and inter-club matches are held on our, and neighbouring clubs waters such as Taunton, Tiverton and Newton Abbot.

Match Secretary Roly PalmerNumbers attending competitions average 20-30 anglers per match and up to 60 entrants for the Devon 4’s series, whilst the majority are seasoned match anglers, new entrants & juniors are however, always welcome, and indeed are encouraged to take up match angling.

All Competitions are run as per NFA match rules with entry to competitions being pre-booked via Roly on (01392-668935). Sunday matches are normally fished 10am – 3pm and the Wednesday series from 6.15 - 9.15, competitions that are deemed “Open Matches” may also be attended by non-club members, there is a nominal entry fee to all matches with optional pools available.
